Privacy policy

Your lists, your routines, your choices.

Last updated: October 8, 2026

This policy explains how the Restock iPhone app, provided by Rebar Studios, handles information. It covers Restock version 1.0, build 4, configured to request non-personalized Google AdMob advertising.

Restock stores your shopping data on your device. You do not need a Restock account, and Rebar Studios does not receive your lists or learning history through an app backend.

Information stored on your device

Restock saves the information you enter and the settings needed to make the app work. This includes item names, lists, quantities, categories, favorites, bagged status, saved stores and their addresses or coordinates, aisle information, store ordering, and your preferences.

This information is used to organize your shopping and help you restock familiar items. Restock does not provide its own cloud account or synchronization service. Your device data may be included in Apple or computer backups, depending on your backup settings.

Location and store arrival reminders

With your permission, Restock uses your location to help find nearby stores, save a store's location, and select a nearby shopping destination. You can search using an address, city, or ZIP code when location access is unavailable.

If you enable Store Arrival Reminders, Restock uses Apple's region-monitoring services to detect arrival near saved stores with outstanding items. This optional feature uses Always location access, Precise Location, and notification permission so reminders can work when the app is not open. Reminder state is stored on your device; Restock does not send a record of your movements to a Rebar Studios server.

Store and address searches use Apple Maps services. Search text and a geographic search area, which may be based on your location, are sent to Apple to return results. Apple's handling of those requests is covered by Apple's privacy policy.

You can disable arrival reminders in Restock Settings and change location or notification permissions in iPhone Settings at any time. Shopping lists remain usable without those permissions. Reminder notifications may show store or shopping information on your lock screen; you can control notification previews in iPhone Settings.

Restocking suggestions

Restock can learn from actions such as bagging items to suggest things you may need again. Learning is enabled by default and takes place on your device. Recorded activity can include item names, dates, associated stores, lists, and quantities. Bagging is treated as an indication of a possible purchase, not a verified transaction.

In Settings → Restocking Suggestions, you can turn off “Learn and Suggest Regular Items,” review Bagging History, exclude activity from learning, or select “Clear Learning History.” Turning learning off stops new learning and hides suggestions; clearing history is a separate action. Learning uses events from the preceding year, and stored event history is limited to 200 recent events per item when updated. Learning history is not included in Restock's JSON exports.

Exports, backups, and sharing

When you select Export Data, Restock creates a JSON file containing shopping data, including saved store addresses and coordinates. You choose where to save or share it using Apple's share sheet. Import Data reads a file you select to add missing records to Restock.

Rebar Studios does not automatically receive these files. If you share a file with another person, an app, or a cloud-storage provider, that recipient handles its copy under its own practices. Delete exported files and backup copies separately when you no longer need them.

Siri, Shortcuts, and purchase information

If you use Restock with Siri or Shortcuts, Apple's services process your requests and pass the relevant action and item or list information to Restock. Apple's privacy settings and policy govern its processing of voice requests.

Restock uses Apple's StoreKit services to check whether an existing Remove Ads entitlement applies. New Remove Ads purchases are not currently offered. Apple handles App Store account and payment information; Restock does not receive your payment-card details.

Advertising and privacy choices

Restock requests non-personalized banner ads from Google AdMob. These requests use contextual advertising, such as the app's context and an approximate location derived from your IP address, rather than requesting ads tailored to your activity across other companies' apps or websites. Restock disables ad personalization and Google's publisher first-party ID in its advertising integration. It does not pass your shopping lists, item names, learning history, saved-store selections, or precise GPS coordinates to AdMob.

Non-personalized ads still involve data processing. Google and its advertising partners may process your IP address and approximate location, device or app identifiers, ads shown and interactions with ads, and diagnostic information such as crashes and performance. This information can support ad delivery, limits on how often an ad appears, aggregate measurement, fraud prevention, and service improvement. These advertising controls do not mean that no data is collected.

Google's User Messaging Platform checks which regional privacy choices apply and presents configured consent messages where required. It processes information needed to determine applicable messages and store your choices. Restock waits for this check and any required form before initializing advertising. If the check fails, ads remain paused and the shopping features stay available. Restock continues to request non-personalized ads regardless of whether your regional choices would otherwise permit personalization.

Where the applicable regional advertising requirements are satisfied, Restock requests Apple’s App Tracking Transparency permission before starting advertising that uses the device’s advertising identifier for measurement across apps and websites. Allowing this permission does not enable personalized ads in Restock. If you decline or tracking is restricted, Restock can still show eligible ads without access to Apple’s advertising identifier. Declining tracking does not remove ads. Shopping features remain available. You can change Apple’s permission in iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

Google’s consent system and advertising SDK determine which ads are eligible under your regional choices. Declining regional consent may allow limited ads. Restock does not override your choices to request personalized ads. Ads remain paused if privacy setup cannot finish or Google’s consent system does not allow requests. Opening regional privacy choices removes the current banner while those choices are updated, then requests a new eligible ad. Changes apply to future advertising requests; they do not delete information already processed by providers.

Where applicable, open Restock Settings → Privacy → Ad Privacy Choices to review or change your regional privacy choices. This option appears when Google's consent service requires it. These regional choices serve a separate purpose from Apple's tracking permission.

Google and its partners process advertising information under their own policies, including retention and privacy-rights procedures. See Google's privacy policy and how Google uses information from apps that use its services. Contact Rebar Studios below for questions about our integration. The local-data deletion steps below do not delete information already processed by advertising providers.

Keeping and deleting information

Shopping data and preferences remain on your device until you change or delete them or delete the app. Deactivating an item or list keeps its saved data; it does not erase it. You can clear learning history separately in Restock Settings.

To remove the app's local data, use Delete App in iPhone Settings. Offloading the app retains its documents and data. Device backups and files you exported may retain separate copies until you remove them through the relevant backup or storage service.

Because Rebar Studios does not hold your local shopping database, we cannot retrieve, correct, or erase that database remotely. You control it on your device.

When you contact us

If you contact Rebar Studios, we receive your email address and whatever information you choose to include. We use that information to respond and investigate your request. Please share only what is needed, and avoid sending shopping exports or other personal information unless relevant to the issue.

Support correspondence is kept for as long as needed to handle the request and any related follow-up, or to meet applicable legal obligations. You may ask us to delete correspondence using the contact below.

Security and children

Restock uses the storage and permission mechanisms provided by iOS. Protect your device and any exported files or backups with appropriate access controls. No storage or transmission method can guarantee absolute security.

Restock is a general-purpose shopping app and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has sent personal information to Rebar Studios, contact us so we can address it.

Changes to this policy

We will publish updates on this page and revise the date above when our practices change. Where required, we will provide additional notice or request consent before a change takes effect.
